Sacred Grounds

Today, I had to run to Water Tower Place. So, since I was heading to that part of the city I Googled a cafe that was in the area, and dragged my good friend, Alex, along. What I didn't realize was that Sacred Grounds was not just close to Water Tower Place, it was actually inside. Learning that fact should have made us turn around and find some place else to go but, I like to believe that a great cafe can be found in the most unique places.

Alex and I stepped up to take a look at the menu. We decided to get the Sacred Ground Blend. As soon as we paid our drinks were ready. We stepped over to the counter to add our sugar and cream, then headed over to sit down at the only table.

Upon taking that first sip, I was completely disgusted. I have never had a cup of coffee so weak. It was as if they had brewed the coffee with 4 single grounds of coffee. Just enough to allow the hot water to take on a brown like hue. Is this how cheap we have become? Where even a cup of coffee can't be brewed properly. I couldn't believe i paid $2.25 for a cup of hot water.

I thought about running out of there, but the sticky table wouldn't allow me to budge. My notebook was literally stuck to the table. I would have slightly understood if they were super busy and they just didn't have time to clean their only table., but they were dead and they were all standing around talking.

When Alex and I could no longer stand the sticky table and the smell from the bathrooms (which was located a few feet behind us), we decided it was time to leave. I was completely disappointed by this place. Aside from the ultra friendly staff, there was not even a decent thing about this place to write about. Hopefully our next adventure will prove otherwise.

Over all rating: 1.5/5
Alex's over all rating: 2/5
